Ayatollah Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of Iran, has said that American President Donald Trump has tried to spread fear among Iranians and that he has shown the true face of America’s “moral, economic and social corruption”.

Mr. Khomeini’s speech came in retaliation of US sanctions on Iran levied against the recent ballistic missile test by Tehran. Despite a much touted deal between Iran and Western powers over pursuing a Nuclear Program, which raised much of the tensions and helped in lifting economic sanctions on Iran, Iran went on with the ballistic missile test and has said that its test does not stand against International law.

President Trump has been a vocal critic of US’s Iran policy and had even criticized the nuclear deal. He has also gone on to pass an executive order that barred people from seven Muslim countries, including Iran, to travel to the United States, alleging that the countries refused entry were high risk areas and allowing them to travel to the US would lead to terrorism.

Iran responded by banning US citizens from entering its country indefinitely.

Mr. Khomeini said during his speech, addressing military leaders of the country that, “What we have been saying for more than 30 years about the political, economic, moral and social corruption in the US ruling system, this person arose during the election campaign and… has confirmed it.”

Iran has been a vocal opponent of US policies for a very long time and relations between Tehran and Washington have hit a new low with the corresponding travel bans and the new sanctions on Iran.

President Donald Trump also reprimanded Iran and warned them through a recent tweet that they are playing with fire. He even said that Ex US President Barack Obama might have been lenient with the Iranians but Iran shouldn’t expect him to be that way.

The war of words has escalated from both fronts in recent times as both countries continue to allege each other of spreading hate and not working towards peace in the region.
